TO JOHN, September 1999
Weep not for me, nor let sadness
Dwell in heart and mind.
I am in the wind and the rain,
The mist and sunlight, the dropping dew.
I am in the corners where memories
Linger. I am in the music and the books
Which line the house we’ve made our own.
But most of all I am in the love
We’ve shared, to carry forward
To your future days. No living in
Past memories but building new
And happy ways, until that time
When with God’s grace we meet again
In joy to find that beatific vision
Which is yet but hope in future life.
